Rising Star Brooklyn Robinson: “I would love to start a movement to raise girls self esteem by encouraging them to volunteer; To find their passion to live their best lives”

I would love to start a movement to raise girls self esteem by encouraging them to volunteer. To find their passion to live their best lives.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Actress Brooklyn Robinson. Brooklyn is an 11 year old award winning actress. She can be seen on Sundance TV’s mini series Ministry of Evil as well as national commercials. Brooklyn is also a junior LA Rams Cheerleader.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I have always loved telling stories to anyone who would listen, so naturally being an actress was an amazing opportunity to do that. My first job was a Party City Commercial then a pilot TV show in NYC.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started this career?

When I first started we were traveling from Ohio to NYC almost 3 times a week for auditions and filming. It was crazy as I was only 5. I remember one of the best memories was at American Girl in NYC. I got to spend my 6th birthday in the city after an audition there and there was easily a foot of snow on the ground.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

I too like my brother thought that craft services table was arts and crafts! I didn’t know it was yummy snacks!

What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?

I just wrapped a film with the working title Penumbra where I am the flashback to actress Nelly Buchet. Also I am in the process of prepping for a really cool project.

Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with? What was that like? Do you have any stories?

I loved working with Quinton Aaron from the movie Blindside, Massi Furlan, John Cena and being Andy Dick’s daughter in a episodic show. Each of these men were so kind and amazing to work with. Also Karina Garcia and Guava Juice are so cool to work with!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

My best advice is find another passion alongside acting. That will help you keep your sanity. Mine is working with animals at the LA Zoo.

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. :-)

I would love to start a movement to raise girls self esteem by encouraging them to volunteer. To find their passion to live their best lives.

What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why. Please share a story or example for each.

  1. Good things happen to those who wait: Building a worthwhile career doesn’t happen overnight. So patience is key.
  2. Surround yourself with good genuine people: Have friends that you can celebrate with who are genuinely happy for you.
  3. Live your life: Enjoy the process.
  4. You can’t be in 2 places at the same time: Be sure to keep your schedule stress free.
  5. Go on vacations: Above all have fun family time on trips. The industry will still be there when you return.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

Actions speak louder than words. Someone who genuinely believes in you will move mountains to further your career.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

My mom is amazing. She has devoted her whole life to my career. Driving all day for years. Thanks mom!

Some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might see this. :-)

I would love to have a private lunch with Betty White. I admire her work with the LA Zoo. I would love to meet her.
